Comuto SA (“BlaBlaCar”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on our website, our electronic communications and mobile applications (individually referred to as “platform” or jointly as “platforms”). In this Policy (the “Cookie Policy”), we provide you with more information relating to these technologies and about the choices you can make.

1 – What is a “cookie” and what are “similar tracking technologies”?

In addition to cookies, BlaBlaCar also uses similar technologies for tracking including “pixel”, “tracking scripts” or “software development kits” (known as SDKs). They are small transparent image files or lines of code contained in our website, our electronic communications (emails for example) and mobile apps, which record how you interact with them. All these tracking technologies are referred to as “cookies” in this Cookie Policy.

Cookies on our platforms are placed either by us (“so-called “first-party cookies”) or by our partners (so called “third-party cookies”) as data controllers. Third-party cookies can be used for displaying certain personalized advertisements as further described below. BlaBlaCar does not manage the cookies of these partner companies and has no control over or responsibility for these cookies or the use of the data collected through them.

Essential cookies:

These cookies allow you to easily navigate our platforms and use basic features like logging in or booking a ride. They are also used to prevent potential security risks. These cookies are essential for BlaBlaCar to work and cannot be turned off.

blablacar_token BlaBlaCar uses this cookie for authentication to our services
app_token Token used for our interactions with backend services
user_id BlaBlaCar uses this cookies in order to easily navigate on our platform
vstr_id Necessary to do progressive random roll-out for features where users are not logged out
screen_size To track the screen size of the user in tracktor and used for server side rendering of SPA.
referrer_blablacar_traffic Traffic source flag
datadome This cookie is set by DataDome to ensure the security of the authentication mechanism on our platform by limiting robotic access attempts.
_dd_s This cookie is set by Datadog to group all events generated from a unique user session across multiple pages. It contains the current session ID, whether the session is excluded due to sampling, and the expiration date of the session.

Performance measuring cookies:

These cookies help us understand your online behavior and thus optimize the operation of our Platforms and measure the audience for our Platforms by identifying for example which pages are most and least popular, and what content is most useful to our users. They help us improve our platforms’ performance by making sure users can easily find what they are looking for, for example. These cookies may be set by us or our analytics partners. If you don’t accept these cookies, you can continue to use our Platforms, but we will have less information enabling us to build Platforms tailored to our users’ needs.

tracker_device_id Cookie necessary for TRACKTOR to be instantiated when the platform is launched on the browser side (SPA or WL). The information collected (device_id) is sent to different TRACKTOR probes.
tracker_session_stamp Cookie necessary for TRACKTOR to be instantiated when the platform is launched on the browser side (SPA or WL). The information collected (session_stamp) is sent to different TRACKTOR probes.

4 – Cookie management

We display a cookie notice on each page of the website. If you continue to use the site having seen the notice then we assume you are happy with the use of the cookies as described above.
